Google's quantum computer completed 47 years of computation in six

Although it looks like an underwater monster from *Pirates of the Caribbean*, this is actually the latest quantum computer built by Google, in 2023.

What you see in the image is not the computer itself, but its enormous cooling system — the computer is hidden somewhere deep inside.

-

The reason for the massive cooling is not that quantum computers generate a great deal of heat, but rather that in order to operate, they must be cooled to an exceptionally low temperature.

Room temperature, for example, is far too high for a quantum computer to function.

The computer has already demonstrated extraordinary capabilities, performing in 6 seconds calculations that would take a classical computer 47 years.

-

A genuine race is already underway in the quantum computing market, as it promises technological supremacy and significant breakthroughs for those who master it first.
