What happens when a phone company decides to make cars?
If Xiaomi had asked Apple CEO Tim Cook, he would have advised them to drop the project. Apple threw in the towel on its autonomous vehicle project after years of work and $10 billion down the drain (pocket change, obviously).
Xiaomi did see it through to the end — and successfully, apparently because the non-autonomous electric vehicle it produces is a far simpler undertaking.
Despite a viral video showing the new car falling apart while driving, Xiaomi is already deep into producing compatible accessories.
