Google's new California office is built from wood, and the carbon

Google has opened a new office in California, and it's made of wood.

The goal is ecological.
The carbon footprint of such a structure is 96% lower compared to one built from concrete and steel.

Although this is a massive building made essentially from felled, dead, and thoroughly chemically dried timber, it's worth remembering that trees can be regrown and their construction waste is biodegradable.

If you search "building a wooden house" on Google, you'll find that the option exists in Israel as well — and surprisingly, it's far cheaper and simpler than conventional concrete construction.

For us Israelis, there is still the constraint of the safe room: in the event of a UAV or missile attack, we'd naturally prefer a steel beam overhead.
